The Breitling brand of watches hails from the Swiss Canton of Jura, one of 26 Swiss Cantons and the newest (being created in 1979). It is located in the most North-western part of Switzerland, with Delémont as its capital.
Breitling has been making watches and chronometers since 1884, with a chronometer being a watch which is tested and constructed to a ridiculously high level of precision. In Switzerland, where Breitling is based, only watches that have been certified by the Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronométres (or COSC, the Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute) are allowed to refer to themselves as being “chronometers”.
A Breitling watch also offers various aviation functions in combination with the ability to tell the time, additional functions might include: moon phase, split-second and flyback function. The watches typically have a large face for clarity and so that more information can be displayed on the analog dials.
All of the watches are manufactured in Switzerland and constructed from the finest of Swiss components, where they undergo rigorous testing by the COSC for the certification that lets them become one of the most respected brands of watch available today.
